The reserved day is for any delays in the domestic flight from lukla Today, you can spend the day as you please in the Kathmandu and casual day for Shopping around Kathmandu .
You’ll start the day with a long (8-9 hour) drive from Kathmandu to Dhap. This driving is a little bit long from the Kathmandu. You can see the best view of the green valley. After 8-9 hours driving, you can reach to Dhap and then overnight at guest house. (Optional some drive to Japre depending on their time availability.)
From a ridgeline south of Dhap, you’ll start the trek, and as you near Sigane, the mountains that you will get to know very well come into view — the peaks of the Numbur Himal section of the Himalayan Range.
The trail from Sigane follows a road under construction for the first couple of hours. The first village you reach is called Japre (2920 m/9580 ft), perched above a deep valley with nice views of Everest and Numbur Himal. There’s a pretty little gompa and stupa here, and this is your stop for the night.
After Japre, the trail climbs up to a grassy ridge at Bhulbhule. There’s a single lodge with no name and nice views of the Everest range from here. Soon after Bhulbhule, the trail splits and you’ll turn right to Pikey Peak. You’ll pass some old yak houses and a long mani stone wall. The trail then contours the hillside below Taklung Danda and goes through a beautiful forested trail.
There are many rhododendrons here along a level path (which you can see in bloom if trekking in the spring). As you leave the forest, it’s not far to Pikey Peak base camp, about 2 hours away. From here, it’s a short climb to the summit at 4065 m / 13336 ft. Unless you have an unusually clear evening, it’s better to climb to the summit in the morning for sunrise.
After the breakfast Starting early in the morning, you’ll follow a gradual trail to the summit of pikey peak covered with prayer flags. The views are breathtaking! If the weather is clear, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views from Annapurna to Kanchenjunga. From the top of Pikey Peak, you’ll follow a ridgeline which starts flat and then steepens as you enter the forest to Jase Bhanjyang, where lunch will be waiting. After lunch , you’ll continue your walk up to a small After the pass you descends steeply through spectacular old growth forest to Taktor.
From Taktor, it is a couple of hours on a lovely trail to Junbesi. Junbesi is a traditional Sherpa village sitting at an altitude of 2675 m/ 8776 ft, and is the cradle of Sherpa culture and architecture. The Sherpas consider the Solukhumbu a sacred valley. In this remote part of Nepal that borders Tibet, Buddhism flourishes and there are numerous Buddhist monasteries along the way.
Today, you’ll have breakfast in Junbesi and then can decide to either rest or take a 3-hour roundtrip hike along the Junbesi Khola with a gentle uphill climb to Thupten Chholing Monastery—founded in the 19th century by Tibetan Buddhists. You’ll have free time to meditate with the local nuns and monks in the monastery and explore the village before you trek back to Junbesi. Overnight: Junbesi (8,793 feet / 2,680 m)
After breakfast, you’ll start trekking to Takasindu, one of the best viewpoints of the trek. The trail crosses over the river and takes a left turn toward Salung ridge. Then, you’ll descend to Ringmo Khola and gradually climb up to Takasindu Pass via Ringmu village.A few minutes below the pass, you’ll see a monastery where you can have outstanding sunset views tonight (and the sunrise in the morning)
You’ll have an early breakfast and then start with a gentle descent to the Dudh Koshi River (Milk River) passing through agricultural farmland and small Sherpa and Rai settlements. From the river, the trail gently ascends all the way to Kharikhola passing through Juving, a pretty Rai village with surrounding farmland. After Trekking time: 5-6 hours we will reach kharikhola and overnight.
Today, we turn away from the Everest Trail (which heads uphill to Bupsa and the Khari La). Instead, we head in a south-easterly direction, following a straightforward and at times zig-zagging trail which gains height steadily and takes us close to Lenjikharka. We reach our overnight halt at the village of Panggom (2850m) in time for a late lunch at our Sherpa’s house
After the breakfast explore panggom village
