Trip Overview

Mardi Himal trekking  is a hidden gem of Annapurna trekking area that goes up to Mardi Himal base Camp. This trek is an ideal choice for those of us who are looking for an ‘off the beaten path’ trekking experience in the quieter parts of the Annapurna region of  Nepal. It is the lowest and perhaps the least visited of the trekking peaks in Nepal. The Mardi Himal Trek is a great option if you are looking for a shorter trek.

The trek offers wilderness, incredible eye-level close view of Mardi Himal, Annapurna ranges, Himchuli peak, Machhapuchare(Fish Tail), rewarding cultural of local indigeneous people, diversity landscapes. Autumn and spring are the best season to trek

Day to Day itinerary

After landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and  completing your custom formalities pick up your luggage and look for representative of Adventure Sherpa Tracks who who will be with display board at the arrival gate. You  will be greeted by our representative and he/she  will pick you and transfer  to your  hotel. Then check-in at the hotel, freshen up and take a rest. In evening or noon , you  are introduced to your  fellow participants ,guides and discuss about our trip at Hotel where you stay.

Today we  can enjoy the beautifully terraced farms, little shops by the side of the road and the raging Trishuli River on our drive to Pokhara also referred to as the ‘City of Lakes.’ From the city, we get great views of the Himalayas including Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, the five peaks of Annapurna. Pokhara is also a tourist destination, so we take some time out in the evening and enjoy!  Overnight in Pokhara.

After breakfast, drive for about an hour from Pokhara to the starting point of the trek. After an unhurried lunch with awesome mountain views at the Australian Camp, descend toPothana (6397 ft. / 1950 m.). Your first night’s accommodation has a wonderful view of Machhapuchare.Today’s trek heads off into the wilderness, leaving tourists, other trekkers, and even villagers behind. Enter an enchanted forest of birch, giant rhododendron, mountain oak, maple, and hemlock. If the weather is clear there will be stunning mountain views while trekking.

As the route climbs, the flora turns to classic ‘cloud forest’ with mosses and lichen, tree ferns, and orchids hosted by the hardier trees. Our trail passes through lush forest dotted with the red rhododendrons. The flowers are a common sight in Nepalese hills and it is no surprise that its Nepal’s national flower. Our trail is very quiet until we reach a clearing of the forest camp. We can take rest and explore the area which is also known locally as Kokar. Overnight in Forest Camp.

We continue to walk through dense forests admiring Nepal’s rich biodiversity and reach the low camp. From here, the fantastic view of Mt. Machapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail) up the valley is mesmerizing. We can spend some time in the evening observing the local lifestyle. Overnight in low camp.

We trek uphill alongside a ridge towards Mardi Himal and Macchhapuchhre. The tree lines start getting thinner and the area mostly consists of shrubs with isolated rhododendron bushes along the trail. If lucky, we might even come across the Daphne pheasant (national bird of Nepal) on our way to high camp. We ascend up to the high camp, which the final destination of the day. From here the mountain views are stunning. Overnight in high camp.

On our trek to the upper viewpoint we ascend and descend, and sometimes on a steep and narrow trail. Our trail passes through pastures and we hike along a narrow ridge before reaching the Upper Viewpoint. The view of the Himalayan vista from here is astonishing. We see Mardi Himal (5587m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna south (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Baraha Shikhar (Mt. Fang) (7647m), Tent Peak (5695m), Singhachuli (6501m), Machapuchhre (6993m) and others. We trek back to Badal Danda .Overnight

On the way back we take a different route so completing a circuit, from Low Camp there is a trail that goes down to Siding village rather than going back down Mardi Himal back to Kokar. Siding is a traditional Nepalese village and still very much away from the busier modern tourist treks and it is likely you will stay at a homestay in Siding owned by the person who runs one of the lodges at Low Camp. It is a wonderful cultural experience finding out more about village .Overnight

From Siding you walk out to the road head at Lumre, on the way from Siding you will pass the villages of Kalimati and Ghalel. Kalimati is mainly a Brahmin village with Ghalel and Siding mixed Brahmin and Gurung. At Lumre you will meet jeep organised by AST in advance to drive you back to Pokhara. After reaching the city, we continue our drive to domestic airport and fly back to Kathmandu.

The reserved day is for in case of delays in the mountains or delay of domestic flight .Today, you can spend the day as you please in the Kathmandu and casual day for Shopping around Kathmandu.
