Trip Overview

The Ganga La Pass trek is a popular yet demanding trek in the Langtang region of Nepal. Langtang Ganja la pass trek allows you to travel in the less crowded trail of Langtang region where you cross the famous Ganja La pass at an elevation of 5,122 meters above sea level. Not so far from Kathmandu valley, Ganja La Trekking route is not yet affected by the modern world and offers the best trekking experience for those looking to escape hustle of their daily life and enjoy the real beauty of nature. Dense and colorful Rhododendron forests, snow- capped mountains, exalted waterfalls and unique civilizations, this trek has it all !

Langtang Ganja La Pass Trekking offers snow secured high passes, great perspectives of mountains, old religious communities, lovely Langtang and Helambu valleys, and natural life. Langtang Ganja La Pass Trek takes you from the busy trails of Langtang region to the quaint trails of Helambu via the frozen Ganja La Pass (5130m) and allows you to be amid pristine nature unspoiled with human interference. Day 04: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7,809ft)  5-6 hrs

Day 05: Lama Hotel – Langtang (3430m/11253ft )   5-6 hrs

Day 06: Langtang to  to Kyangjin Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft)    4-5 hrs

Day 07: Acclimatization: explore Tserko Ri   (5,000m/16,405ft)  7-8 hrs

Day 8: Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Ngengang  (4000m/13123) 5-6 hrs .

Day 9: Trek to Keldang 4270m/14009ft)  via Ganja-La Pass  (5122m/16,800 ft).  7-8 hrs .

Day 10: Trek from Keldang to Dhukpa (4040m /13254) 7-8 hrs

Day 11: Trek from Dhukpa to Tarkegyang (2740m /8989ft)  6-hrs

Note: Please take care to note that your Sherpa guides  has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to your safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary; however, since this adventure entails travelling in remote mountainous regions, we cannot guarantee  it. Weather, health condition of a group member, unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. Your  Sherpa guides will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.Above itinerary are just a guideline  and easily customize-able at your preference.

Day to Day itinerary

After landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and  completing your custom formalities pick up your luggage and look for representative of Adventure Sherpa Tracks who who will be with display board at the arrival gate. You  will be greeted by our representative and he/she  will pick you and transfer  to your  hotel. Then check-in at the hotel, freshen up and take a rest. In evening or noon , you  are introduced to your  fellow participants ,guides and discuss about our trip at Hotel where you stay.

After breakfast Adventure Sherpa Tracks’s tour guide will you pick from the hotel for full day sightseeing around Kathmandu . you will  tour among these world hesitate sites Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath stupa and Bouddhanath stupa , The Durbar Square sheds light on the life of the royals in ancient times. Pashupatinath temple is one of the most important places of pilgrimage for all Hindus. Swayambhunath is also known as the Monkey Temple and Baudhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world. Depending on your preference it might be a other sites like Bhaktapur too .Back to hotel and preparation for the trek .

We leave Kathmandu in the morning for Syabrubesi, a village which is also the starting point for treks into the Langtang valley.Drive takes about six hours by bus or Land cruiser depending on group size. Our journey will be on a winding road through frequent switchbacks. On a clear day we get to enjoy outstanding views of Manaslu, Annapurna and Ganesh Himal. Our trek for today ends with a descent into the small village of Syabrubesi. Overnight in Syabrubesi.

After breakfast, we begin our trek from Syabrubesi along the Langtang Khola. Today, the first part of the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola. We ascend and descend simultaneously through oak and rhododendron forests. After crossing a bridge over the Langtang Khola (small river), we ascend on a steep trail which will lead us to the Lama Hotel. Overnight

We continue ascending from Lama Hotel and enjoy the mountain landscape with abundant waterfalls. As we reach the green meadows of Ghoda Tabela, we begin to see the white peaks of the Langtang range. Our trail continues to climb up the widening valley, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders. We pass a Buddhist monastery before reaching the Langtang village.Shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang (3,307m), headquarters of the Langtang National Park there is a monastery, which we might be able to visit. .Overnight

Today we will start our journey to Kyangjin Gompa, a principal monastery of the region. We pass by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them.  We also pass by the largest mani wall in Nepal, made from stone with prayers written on them. After the short trek, we spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the Buddhist shrine in Kyangjin Gompa and surrounding areas with the amazing views of the mountains.In the afternoon we can either head up a side valley to the foot of the Langtang and Kyimoshung glaciers, or climb onto some of the surrounding ridges for close up views of Langtang Lirung and the beautiful so called Fluted Peak.

Today is our rest and acclimatization day .We spend the  day exploring Tserko Ri which will also help us acclimatize to the high altitude. We begin early in the morning. The trail passes through yak pastures before ascending to Tserko Ri. The sunrise view from the top of Tserko Ri is extraordinary. We get back to Kyangjin Gompa by late afternoon and explore the beautiful monastery while enjoying views of the Himalayas, glaciers, birds and yaks.Overnight

From Kyanjin Gompa, we’ll ascend through trails with sparse vegetation. We cross a suspension bridge over Langtang Khola and arrive at Chhana Lake before reaching Ngengang. After a tiring walk amid the bare hills, we’ll reach Ngengang where we’ll rest for the overnight.

After breakfast, we’ll set out for our rigorous walk where we reach Keldang via Ganja La Pass (5130m), which is covered in snow throughout the year. Ngegang to Keldang is the hardest part of the trip as we are required to walk through the icy and slippery path. Upon crossing Ganja La Pass, we will descend on a steep trail to reach Keldang. Overnight at tented camp in Keldang.

After an early breakfast, we set out for our trek to Dhukpa from Keldang. The trail consists of many highs and lows, a descent towards the valley along the ridge, and an easy walk on the grasslands that takes us to Dhukpa. Overnight at tented camp in Dhukpa.

Today, our trek descends in the beginning, and subsequently, we make a steep climb to reach Yangri Peak. Trekking along the pine and rhododendron forest, we reach Tarkegyang, a large Sherpa village. We can visit the old monastery called Gekye Gompa, in the evening, as we explore the village. Overnight at tented camp in Tarkegyang.

Walk through Ghyangul and Chimighyang will take us to the beautiful village of Sermanthang which is very rich in culture as it is inhabited by the Sherpa community. The village serves equally satiating natural landscapes. You can spend the evening interacting with the locals. Overnight at tented camp in Sermanthang.

Make your descent to Melamchi Bazaar, where the Melamchi Khola and Indrawati Khola rivers join. The trail drops down through Thimbu, where it meets the road.From here we drive to Kathmandu and reminisce about our trip in the Langtang and Helambu regions. After reaching Kathmandu, we freshen up and take a rest. In the evening, there will be a farewell dinner hosted by  AST to celebrate the successful completion of our trip. Overnight in Kathmandu.

The reserved day is for in case of delays in the mountains Today, you can spend the day as you please in the Kathmandu and casual day for Shopping around Kathmandu.

Your adventure in Nepal comes to an end today! Approximately three hours before your scheduled international flight, Our representative from Adventure Sherpa Tracks  will drop you off at the Tribhuwan International airport  and does  a farewell.
