Upper Dolpa Trekking

Upper Dolpa Trekking is a challenging tented camping and home stay adventure around off the beaten path at western Nepal. During our Upper Dolpa Trekking we make our way around unspoiled trails less frequently visited by travelers. Upper Dolpa Trekking region also gives us an exclusive opportunity to get insights into last remnants of Bon-Po religion or commonly understood as pre-Buddhist Tibetan culture. Along with rich cultural aspects, the major highlights of Upper Dolpa Trekking are chance to get excellent views of snow capped mountains including Dhaulagiri toward eastwards and experience an authentic feel of adventurous trekking in Nepal.

We begin our Upper Dolpa Trekking after completion of scenic one day cultural sightseeing around UNESCO world heritage sites. Then, we will be either driving or boarding a domestic flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj followed by taking another flight to Juphal. During the initial days of our trek, we head towards Chhepka through beautiful village of Kagbeni followed by visit to Chunuwar, Ringmo, Ruktang and further ascend into Dolpa valley with great views of snow capped peaks nearby Tibetan border. The fluttering prayer flags with excellent views of Dhaulagiri range and Kanjiroba Himalayas enthrall us with its unmatched natural beauty. In the similar way, visit to ancient monastery of Shey Gompa gives us an opportunity to get insight into traditions and cultures followed since 11th century. We cross the high camp and descend towards valley of Dho Tarap before we trek towards Tangum, Lakhishap, Dunai and Juphal with flight to Nepalgunj followed by another connecting flight or drive back to Kathmandu that concludes our Upper Dolpa Trekking.
