Trip Overview

Rara Lake is the biggest lake situated within the borders of Nepal, which lies at an altitude of 2,990 m above sea level and covers an area of 10.8 square kilometers. The lake is surrounded by Rara National Park on all sides. The trek to Rara has been a popular destination for many trekkers, with a very rough route in the western part of Nepal.

A journey to Rara lake is one of the most incredible and fascinating treks in all the Himalayan range lies northwest of Kathmandu in the remote area of Karnali. If you are looking of wilderness and solitude travel, this trek is an ideal choice. The route is very much ‘off the beaten track’ and affords glimpses of cultures and scenery very different from the rest of Nepal. The clear, high altitude lake of Rara, which mirrors the snow capped Himalayas, is ringed with blue pine, black juniper forest and Himalayan cypress Lake Rara is a popular serenity pilgrimage for Nepalese. Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to 3, 4 or 5 star hotel in Kathmandu

Day 2: Casual day for shopping and sightseeing around Kathmandu

Day 3: Flight Kathmandu – Nepalgunj and overnight

Day 4: Flight Nepalgunj – Jumla (2370 m.)

Day 5: Trek to Sinja (2440 m.)

Day 6: Trek to Rara Lake (3040 m.) & overnight

Day 9: Trek to Jaljala (3270 m.)

Day10: Trek to Jumla
