Island Peak Climbing with Gokyo and EBC Trek

Island Peak,also known as( Imja Tse) is a mountain in the Himalaya of eastern  Nepal. The peak was named Island Peak in  1951 by Eric Shipton’s party since it appears as an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. Island Peak Climbing with Gokyo and Everest Base Camp trek allows us to experience ultimate adventure at popular Everest region of Nepal. This exciting yet delightful and adventurous trekking and Island peak climbing adventure offers chance to observe excellent panoramic upclose views of Everest Himalayan ranges like Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu including Everest and other surrounding peaks from popular viewpoints like Gokyo Ri and Kalapathher. Likewise, summiting Island peak is simply a once in a lifetime of adventure.

We begin our Island Peak Climbing with Gokyo and Everest Base Camp Trek after your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport followed by next day’s cultural sightseeing around UNESCO world heritage sites and completion of necessary trekking and climbing preparations. Initially, we board a scenic domestic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla followed by trek to Phakding. Walking along naturally beautiful forests, landscapes, crossing suspension bridges multiple times through Dudh Koshi River, we finally arrive at Namche Bazar. And we catch up Gokyo trekking trails towards west making our way through Dole, Machhermo and amazingly captivating valley of Gokyo. In the following day, we climb up to Gokyo ri offering excellent views of Everest Himalayan ranges. Further, in next couple of days, we cross high altitude Cho La Pass and head towards Gorakshep. Upon arrival at Gorakshep, we won’t miss our chance to step at base camp of top of the world at Everest base camp. Also spectacular views of Everest panoramas is captured from Kalapathher viewpoint before we follow our adventure trekking trails to Chukkung and Island Peak base camp. Our professional Sherpa climbing guides will provide essential climbing on how to use crampons, ropes and ice axes; as basic climbing skills is required. We start our summit day very early in the morning and push for the summit of Island Peak. After successful summiting, the rewarding feeling of happiness just can’t be expressed in words. Furthermore, we descend through beautiful Sherpa inhabited villages of Dingbuche, Tengbuche and Namche followed by return flight back to Kathmandu.

Island Peak Climbing doesn’t requires technical climbing knowledge and experience,, however you must be in good physical shape with passion towards walking, exploring and basic climbing skills. The best season to join Island Peak Climbing would be during the spring months of March, April and May along with autumn months of late August, September and October.
